The Winter Steelhead run is in full swing, with mostly hatchery fish coming in for the next few weeks. Starting in mid February the run will be a mix of hatchery and wild fish. The Humptulips, Satsop, and Wynoochee will have a mix and the late run on the Cowlitz will be primarily hatchery fish. The best time of the year to catch a Steelhead over 20 lbs is late Winter and early Spring. The other exciting news is the expected run of Spring kings on the Columbia and the Cowlitz rivers. The jack counts were exceptionally high in both rivers last season and that bodes well for a great adult return this season. I am now booking for 2010.
